A Fence Company That Understands Oak Park Properties
Oak Park isn't a typical suburb, and fencing here isn't typical either. Lots tend to be narrower and deeper than in outlying towns, many yards back up to alleys, and the village's tree-lined parkways mean roots, tight access, and careful digging. Add in three nationally recognized historic districts, including the Frank Lloyd Wright–Prairie School of Architecture Historic District, and it becomes clear why local experience matters. Our consultants measure every project in person, review your plat of survey, plan around garages and alley gates, and design a fence that respects both your property line and your block's character. Whether you're near Scoville Park, off Ridgeland Avenue, or south of the Ike near Rehm Park, we've likely built a fence within a few blocks of you.

Residential Fence Installation in Oak Park, IL
Every fence project starts with a reason: a new puppy, a toddler who just learned to run, a neighbor's second-story addition looking into your yard, or a 20-year-old fence that finally leaned over in a windstorm. Whatever brought you here, our residential fence contractors will walk you through the options and help you choose the right material, height, and style for your home and budget.
Wood Fences
For Oak Park's Victorians, bungalows, and Prairie-style homes, nothing complements the architecture like real wood. Our wood fence installers in Oak Park, IL build exclusively with premium Western Red Cedar, a naturally rot- and insect-resistant species that weathers to a beautiful silvery tone if left unstained. Choose from full-privacy, board-on-board, shadowbox, picket, and horizontal styles, or let us design something custom for your yard.
Vinyl (PVC) Fences
If you want a fence that doesn't require your attention, vinyl is the best option. As a trusted vinyl fence company in Oak Park, IL, we install low-maintenance PVC fencing from manufacturers like Catalyst and Ply Gem that never needs painting, staining, or sealing, just an occasional rinse. It's available in privacy, semi-privacy, and picket styles with the option for realistic wood-grain textures, and it stands up to Chicagoland's freeze-thaw winters year after year.
Chain Link Fences
Practical, affordable, and nearly maintenance-free, chain link remains one of the smartest ways to close off a yard for kids and pets. Our chain link fence contractors in Oak Park, IL install galvanized and color-coated systems that blend into landscaping far better than the bare silver fences of decades past, a popular choice along alleys, side yards, and commercial lots alike.
Aluminum Fences
Aluminum fencing delivers the elegance of wrought iron without the rust or upkeep, which makes it a favorite for front yards, corner lots, and pool areas. Our aluminum fence installation in Oak Park, IL includes styles with closer picket spacing ("puppy pickets") to keep small dogs safely inside, and open designs that satisfy the village's front-yard visibility rules while still defining your property beautifully.
Ornamental Steel & Iron Fences
For maximum strength and a refined, architectural look, ornamental steel and true iron fencing are hard to beat. Built with premium materials from manufacturers like Ameristar, these fences suit Oak Park's stately homes and commercial frontages, pair beautifully with brick and masonry, and provide serious security without looking industrial.
Composite Fences
Composite fencing blends the warm, modern look of wood boards with the durability of engineered materials and it is pest-resistant, waterproof and highly customizable. It's an excellent choice for homeowners who love the horizontal, contemporary styles trending in Oak Park but want a fence that keeps its looks with minimal effort.

Fence Permits and Codes in Oak Park, IL
Fencing rules in Oak Park are more detailed than in many neighboring communities, and we navigate them for customers every week. A few things worth knowing before your project begins:
- A fence permit from the Village of Oak Park is required for new and replacement fences. The application includes a copy of your plat of survey marked with the fence location, height, materials, gate locations, and the percentage of open construction.
- Front yards have special rules. Fences located within 35 feet of the front lot line (or closer to the street than the house) must be open-style fences, such as aluminum, steel or picket rather than solid privacy, and are limited to 5 feet in height.
- Most rear- and side-yard fences may be built up to 6 feet tall, with certain exceptions depending on location and fence type. Our consultants confirm the exact limits for your lot before finalizing a design.
- Historic district properties need an extra step. If your home sits in the Frank Lloyd Wright–Prairie School, Ridgeland-Oak Park or Gunderson Historic District, or is a designated landmark, a review of the fence design may be required before a permit is issued. We've worked through this process and can guide you.
- We help with the paperwork. From the permit application and survey diagram to JULIE utility locates, our team helps manage the process with the Village of Oak Park.
For the village's full requirements, see the Village of Oak Park fence guidelines, or simply ask your First Fence consultant during your free estimate. And while it isn't required, giving your adjacent neighbors a heads-up before installation day is always a good-neighbor move on Oak Park's close-set lots.
